It is our pleasure to inform you of the upcoming International Conference on Photo-Responsive Organics and Polymers (ICPOP 2001) supported by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (Asian Science Seminar Project) and Korea Science & Engineering Foundation to be held at the Shilla Hotel on Cheju Island, Korea, August 19-25, 2001.

Interest has been rising on the subject of photo-responsive organic molecules and polymers, ever since they demonstrated promise for present and future generation materials for ultrahigh speed information processing and high capacity information storage devices.

This conference will host prominent scientists and engineers from Asia, the Americas, and Europe who will create an effective environment for learning the state of art in this fast growing field and provide an arena for productive discussions. It is the intention of the conference to serve as an open forum for exchange of leading scientific ideas and research results. In addition, it is hoped that Asian Science Seminar will provide an excellent opportunity for graduate students and young scientists to more fully understand and experience the link between basic research and real life problems through lectures by distinguished researchers as well as a study visit to Daeduk Science Town in the city of Taejon following conference.
